About the Genre of horror stories, the typical elements that they have is suspense, and entertainment (keeps you reading it until the climax and then boom, you’re hit with so much emotion and you feel like you are inside the book) and most horror stories can be quite scary and make your body shiver with fear or you feel drops and drops of sweat sliding down your brow. I mean when I started writing this story, I didn’t know much about horror. I often despised horror because I didn’t like it. I am always prone to being frightened and whenever I see and read something scary, I have nightmares at night. Whenever I read something that does this to me, I can safely say it is either a horror or mass killing genre type of book.

I read a few twelve page stories on the horror genre and I felt compelled to read more but I just didn’t want to cause myself to have nightmares. The stories I read had storylines such as a haunted house or lane, ghosts that spook people who are thought to be living people or something happens to a dead family member. Something along the lines of that mysterious, haunting type of experience that you feel when you read these types of books/stories. I can safely say that reading some horror short stories has given me some ideas of what to right but I don’t actually know if this is a horror story that I have written. I mean it was to me, I was sweating as if I was in the middle of a fire. However I have got to say writing a horror story has been a strange yet worthy experience.

She wrote this as part of a free writing task prior to the bushfires but nevertheless thought this would be fitting tribute to the people of Marysville and other similar communities which have been horribly affected by the recent tragedy. Her piece to writing shows what kind of significance a place and its people can have on the hearts and minds of those who live there or just visit. Such places therefore never die as long as others remember and the will and commitment exits to rebuild and move forward to a promising future. And we know and have faith that the community of Marysville will do just that.
